His name is Henry and he made me believe in myself again

When asked by her Sixth Form College at interview how she managed to overcome her personal challenges and learning difficulties to achieve the grades she did, my daughter's response was "His name is Henry and he made me believe in myself again."

I thank Henry ... for restoring my daughters’ confidence and enjoyment in maths

Henry seems to have the ability to adapt his teaching to suit his pupil and to help them realise their potential. I thank Henry in particular for restoring my daughters’ confidence and enjoyment in maths.

He is a great mentor, teacher and friend

Henry was a fantastic teacher! He taught Maths and English to my brothers and I during our early teens. He helped us through our exam periods, teaching us exam techniques, and provided unique ways of learning maths in a friendly, engaging environment. I owe him for the best part of getting me through school examinations through his approach to teaching. He is a great mentor, teacher and friend.

ENGLISH REALLY GOOD!!

So many thanks Henry - Maia texted to me today to say, ‘English Really good!!’ First time I've heard her say that - so thank you so much for supporting her. I feel a bit sad really that with your one to one support she has gained so much - things that she hadn't got from being at school... I'm so grateful she had the opportunity to work with you! (Result: A)

I was not predicted to even pass...

I am very proud of is my Grade 6 in English GCSE as I have severe dyslexia. Achieving this grade reminds me, that even if I think that something is impossible, I can do it. I was not predicted to even pass and I know that if I just admitted defeat after getting a Grade 2 in my Mocks, I would never have overcome the limitations of dyslexia.

Henry taught me more maths in a few sessions than I’d learned in years of sitting in class.

Henry taught me more maths in a few sessions than I’d learned in years of sitting in class. I had a huge boost in confidence in my own abilities. He is a genuine mentor & guide, someone I could open up to and take great support from.

Henry was able to convince our son of his capabilities, and helped to make him feel genuinely special and valued

Henry was so nurturing, inspiring and fun, that it was a big contrast to the pressurising teaching our son was experiencing at his school. He had lost a lot of confidence, and Henry was able to convince our son of his capabilities, and helped to make him feel genuinely special and valued.

...his endless patience and skills as a teacher ... enabled her to re-engage with her studies

Henry worked with my daughter (who could be described as a recalcitrant* student) during her GCSEs. I feel it was his endless patience and skills as a teacher which enabled her to re-engage with her studies and go on to achieve her GCSEs.
*recalcitrant - ‘having an obstinately uncooperative attitude towards authority or discipline’

He... offered support when I needed it the most

Mr Henry did not just help me develop and succeed in Literature and essay writing, but was a great support mentally and an amazing mentor. His patience and zen state of mind is what helped me get through my academics without freaking out and with a healthy thinking style. He always offered support when I needed it the most, without me even needing to ask for it. I couldn’t ask for a better tutor and support. I wouldn’t have been able to get this far without you!!

...concluded in his being offered places in all five of the universities of his choice

I cannot emphasise how strongly I feel about Henry's contribution to our son's excellent ultimate performance and results in all his London independent schools which concluded in his being offered places in all five of the universities of his choice under the UCAS application system. I believe that this was a product of Henry's gentle but obviously knowledgeable approach which enabled him to work with our son rather than just appearing to be mentoring him from above. I would happily recommend Henry to any parent who feels that their child could benefit from a guiding hand, a gentle push in the right direction to enable them to achieve excellence.
